| V8 Shorthorns is owned by Jim and Luann Williams. Growing up in the cattle and rodeo business, Jim attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville on a college football scholarship for two years. After a devastating knee-injury, he was unable to continue in athletics and he transferred to Texas A&M University, where he received a degree in Animal Science in 1976.
After 20 years of working on the Brahman herd, Jim and his family wanted a new project that they could work with together as a family and build from the ground up. They had used Brahman x Shorthorn recip cows on the ranch and liked the Shorthorn crossbreeding factor. Jim began studying more about the Shorthorn breed, and in 1986 they purchased their first Shorthorn female from Granada Shorthorns. In 1989, their oldest daughter, Rachel, began showing Shorthorn cattle. By 1992, when Catherine became eligible to show in junior shows, we were hooked on Shorthorn cattle.
Jim judges many shows across the nation where he travels to many state fairs, major shows, and even local and county shows to evaluate the cattle and motivate and encourage the exhibitors. In leadership roles, Jim is the American Shorthorn Association's only three-time president. He is a former chairman of the Texas Beef Council and former executive board member of the National Cattleman's Beef Association. We invite visitors to the ranch at any time, and we always enjoy meeting and getting to know fellow Shorthorn breeders at shows and sales throughout the year.

What an exciting day! We couldn't have been more proud to have raised such a popular champion in Can't Fool Me. This was only the start of Can't Fool Me's winning ways. She went on to be one of the most popular show heifers of 2004 and 2005 and is now a donor for Sullivan Farms and V8. |
Long before she was a famous foundation donor female for Sullivan Farms, we owned and showed Picture Perfect 076 TPX. |

Another winner from that day at Denver, selected by junior show judge and Shorthorn breeder, Rex Tribbett. |
From the very first time Jim saw Myrtle Bo, he knew she was special. Even as a calf, judge Bill Jacobs selected her for Reserve Grand Champion behind Delila D. We had 3 division winners that day in the open show - Roan Princess, Myrtle Bo, and Delila. We couldn't have done it without Cary Aubrey, Erin Dorsey, and Matt Williams. |

Shown by: Catherine Williams This was Delila's first major win at a national level, but she had been a consistent class and division winner for the 2 years prior. From her first outing at the 1998 Junior Nationals being named Reserve Division 1 Champion (with Ann Rasor at the halter), to winning the Texas major stock shows TWICE, Delila D was Catherine's favorite show heifer of all time. |
Pictured here with National Lassie Queen Blayne Spencer Arthur, Alternate Lassie Queen Tiffany Tippin, and Judge Cliff Orley. |

One of the most respected industry leaders of all time, Dr. Harlan Richie, selected this heifer to win the show. The associate judge is pretty famous in his own right: Tim Loudon of B-Good Livestock. This win will forever leave Roan Princess in the V8 history books... she was the first of Catherine's 3 back-to-back Jr. National winners. |

We had two class winners out there in this champion drive - WR4 Delila D R750 and Lucky Charm. Pictured in this photo with Luann and Catherine is our friend and tough Shorthorn junior exhibitor Erin Hartman, and also Dr. Chris Skaggs, judge. |
Raised by Don Cagwin, our only Lucky Charm is still a donor in our herd. This was the first time we had shown her, and under Bill Jacobs, she was Reserve Grand Champion as a Junior Heifer Calf. |
